white as a feather

This soft and light feathery dress by JCrew is fabulous!
I would love to see this on a bride who wanted a
less than traditional wedding gown.
...or maybe for a fun summer event.

fashion lookbook: go tribal

This colorful patterned top from Anthropologie along with jewelry from
On the Lookout, a newly launched line designed locally, inspired this tribal theme.
I think a look is more individual and wearable when it's mixed
with simple pieces so it's not overdone.  Pattern, beading, fringe, geometric shapes - paired with solid pieces, keeps it from being to too much.
The shirt is a spurge at $158, but everything else shown is under $100 or even $50.

fashion lookbook: no more rules

I was in JCrew the other day wearing my perfectly worn-in leather jacket.
The saleswoman told me it would look great with white pants.
When I replied 'not quite yet though', she said 'there are no more rules!'
So here's an outfit I'm ready to wear now, no more waiting for Memorial Day.

Getting ready for spring, leather looks great with white,
but to make it season appropriate, mix it with rich, bright colors.
How about a little sparkle?  Not just for night anymore!
Loving the contrast of patterns.  Mix it up a bit!  No more matchy matchy.

brightly twisted scarves

Here is my new favorite accessory that seems to go with everything I own.
Most of my wardrobe can be pulled together with this scarf.
Super soft, drapes beautifully, hand dyed...you've got to see these scarves in person.

See a great selection of 'Brightly Twisted' at Knuth.

inspired by the hunger games fire dress

I recently read the first of the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.
The story of a bunch of adolescents fighting to the death in a futuristic state-sponsored gladiatorial contest has adolescents and adults reading the series and
running out to the see the movie.

I have not seen the movie (yet!) but am half way through the book series.
'The Girl on Fire Dress' worn by the main character Katniss
inspired my fire and flame theme.

bright + bold in florida

My daughter Ruby wore her bright striped dress the other day paired with neon shoes (notice she selected one of each color).
I couldn't resist using the bright colors of an
artsy downtown Sarasota neighborhood as a backdrop.

How great is the color in the middle of a construction site?
I'm sure she tolerated the photographing longer than usual
since she had her buddy Sophie with her.
